Yes, we are still improving!
ten Haaft stands for top quality But even so, we won't rest on our laurels. Decades of experience are channelled into every innovation. We know what works, what lasts and what brings pleasure.
A huge step
There are several ground-breaking innovations that make the Oyster V® stand out. A new chapter is being opened in the history of mobile antenna technology. What an experience you will have! Its height when folded is only approx. 17 cm (even for the TWIN version and with SKEW)! The reason for this is a clever structural solution: the curved shape of the feed arm enables a space-saving design - without any contact with the roof and almost silent.
Weight of the external unit: approx. 11 kg
Diameter of the dish: 85 cm
However far you want to see
Europe, North America, Middle East The Oyster V® has an impressive maximum range. The 85 cm diameter antenna dish makes a significant contribution to this. The specified reception ranges show the approximate core reach. The range of individual programmes is not something that can be influenced by ten Haaft. The relevant satellite operators have sole responsibility for the actual range in each case. It cannot be guaranteed that the reception ranges shown here will continue to apply in future.
The options
Oyster® Vision (no receiver)
The basic option, if you want to use an existing receiver or a TV with integrated receiver. The device is operated via the control panel.
Oyster® Premium (incl. "Oyster® TV")
The complete system from ten Haaft. Here you use your system remote control for the TV and for the satellite system. Option for both: the TWIN option for two televisions.
Optional easy operation "Oyster® TV"
The "brain" behind the Oyster® is your control unit, the FeatureBox. It computes and controls. In the Vision option, you communicate with the FeatureBox via the control panel, with the Premium option you use your TV remote control for this purpose. Thanks to the mobile app, you can now also control the FeatureBox via your smartphone. The basic operating functions are available and you can, for example, switch the antenna on or off from outside, change satellite or display the system settings. So the FeatureBox can do more and has become more slimline at the same time.
Don't search. Find!
The Oyster® knows where the satellites are at all times. So there is no longer any need for annoying all-round search operations. The system orients itself unerringly towards the satellite. The basis for this technological advance is the interplay between three components: GPS, 3D compass and tilt sensor. The GPS determines the location, the 3D compass establishes which direction your vehicle (and, therefore, the antenna) is pointing in, the tilt sensor detects any possible vehicle tilt and prompts a precise compensatory antenna movement. The vehicle tilt, in particular, is often underestimated. A slight angle can have considerable interference potential. Far greater, for instance, than the height differential between the vehicle position on a mountain top and down in the valley.
Equipped against changes
How annoying it is when suddenly the technical characteristics of the satellite signal change, you are holidaying somewhere in Europe and suddenly nothing works any more. The only remedy in such cases is often an update. Although our technicians can programme this kind of fix very rapidly, it still needs to be uploaded to your satellite antenna. Your Oyster® can receive online updates via your smartphone (or via a USB stick). This is far from just a gimmick. The update is transmitted directly to your mobile phone and can be applied from there to the system. You can download a free app for your Oyster®, which offers you a whole range of useful options in addition to the update functionality. So we can let you know immediately if we detect a change to satellite characteristics. You will then know what the cause of the fault is and can receive the patch update as speedily as possible. Your mobile is linked with the Oyster® control via the app. If a technical fault should arise, in most cases this can be diagnosed using the Oyster® app. This data can be transmitted to customer services.
A cable is a cable
When we talk about the "one cable solution" that's exactly what we mean. Nothing more is needed for the power supply. We use a special coaxial cable, which takes care of the control signal and power supply and transmits the signal to the external unit. So installation is a "minimally invasive operation". A single small hole will suffice. Of course, for the TWIN option a second coaxial cable is required.
No scope for wavering!
The Oyster® external unit weighs just 11 kg. It's almost incredible that the stability has increased despite a reduction in weight. And this is crucial. Not just for the renowned "OysterV® longevity", but also for uninterrupted reception. Manufacturers who economise in the wrong places risk an unstable, wind-susceptible antenna system. And this is associated with image interference. The stability of the Oyster® is the result of resourceful engineering and the very latest, high-quality materials, like those used in motor sport. The dish arm is manufactured as a single piece and is made from ultra-lightweight magnesium. This makes it extremely stable with excellent torsion resistance while still being lightweight. Even the feed arm, which is made from glass fibre reinforced plastic, has exceptional torsion resistance thanks to its precisely engineered internal struts. To put it simply: it cannot be twisted. In addition, this well-designed component has space for the cable duct and tilt sensor as well as the compass and GPS sensor. If the antenna is SKEW-enabled (optional), this is also integrated in the feed arm and thus protected from wind and weather.
SKEW: automatically greater range
The SKEW is a small electrical motor, which automatically aligns the LNB and so significantly increases the range of your Oyster®. This optional feature is recommended if you travel regularly in the south-west or south-east regions of Europe. In which case, SKEW is definitely worthwhile. While other people have to climb on the roof of their mobile home, SKEW will deal with this job automatically. SKEW is integrated in the feed arm and so is protected against the elements and other damage.
Don't reinvent the wheel
The control knob technology has been tried and tested in many thousands of Oyster® systems. For the Oyster® we have refined it, but the principle remains the same: only the head of the antenna swivels, the antenna body is fixed. This means: less weight has to be moved. This reduces power consumption, minimises the mechanical load and saves space. It also means the pivot point is higher. Even when there is a layer of snow, the Oyster® can move freely.
Oyster® = quality
The combination of simple, reliable technology and the very latest electronics is crucial. Vulnerable "consumer goods" have no business at ten Haaft We insist on tried-and-tested, heavy-duty components. We take the high vehicle standard requirements as our benchmark. Automotive standards are exceptionally strict when it comes to resistance to vibration, mechanical impacts and extreme temperatures. We exceed these requirements on a regular basis. So a 3 year manufacturer's warranty goes without saying.
