about the authors
Steven Ponndorf and his wife Petra have been passionate geocachers since 2008. The mathematics graduate quickly found fun in geocaching, solving the many tasks that the widespread mystery caches hold in store. He was a member of the organizing team of the world's largest geocaching event to date, the "Project: GeoGames 2012" in Leipzig with more than 4,000 visitors. Together with Markus Gründel, the idea was born to continue his successful book "Geocaching" and to give tips on how to approach solving various puzzles in a follow-up volume.
Markus Gründel has been a passionate hiker and hobbyist since childhood and loves technical gadgets. A trained banker, he travels mostly in Germany and Scandinavia on foot, by bike, or by boat. Shortly after he first turned his hobby into a career and switched to the outdoor industry, he found his first geocache in 2002 and has since fallen for the fascination of the modern scavenger hunt
In the following years he hid caches in Germany and Norway. In addition, he has since organized geocaching events for various occasions and themes such as Walpurgis and runs Germany's first travel bug museum. With the success of his book "Geocaching I", which became a German standard work and is known as "The Cacher Bible" and "The Gründel", he was able to realize himself for the second time and is now known as Germany's first full-time geocacher and is a sought-after contact when it comes to topics such as geocaching, GPS and outdoor or their combination
