Product description
This product is handmade from the beautiful natural material Raffia. Raffia fibers come from palm fronds and all of Rice's raffia products come from Madagascar, where Rice's story began. Our raffia baskets and raffia houses were some of our very first products. The production facilities are located in two villages in the mountains of Madagascar. This supports more than 300 families on the Red Island.
Because raffia is a natural material and the products are handmade, each product can vary in size and this variation is also reflected in the color scheme. This means that no two products are ever quite the same, which we consider part of the charm. When exposed to direct sunlight, colors fade over time. The color of raffia products can rub off when exposed to liquids.

This process is accelerated when exposed to direct sunlight. Avoid contact with water as the colors may stain.
