Product description
Opinel is expanding its color spectrum with the 06 Colorama Art Deco series. The tried-and-tested stainless model in size 06 offers a leather cord for attaching to a key ring or a snap hook as a special extra. The blade made of modified, stainless 12C27 steel is securely locked in the open and closed position using the Virobloc system developed by Opinel. The typical beechwood handle is available in five different colors.
Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel of Opinel blades is an optimized grade that guarantees both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade has excellent sharpness and high abrasion resistance (wear resistance), which allows it to withstand regular contact with hard materials such as ceramics before needing to be sharpened. Stainless steel has the advantage that, unlike carbon steel, it requires no special maintenance under normal conditions of use. Nevertheless, it can reach its limits if it comes into contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent, etc.) over a long period of time.
Yatagan blade
The traditional Opinel blade is called a yatagan. The shape is inspired by a Turkish sabre with a raised tip. The blade is sharpened to an exclusive, curved profile and guarantees robustness and easy sharpening.
Handle
White beech wood comes from French forestry. It is a white wood with little grain, which is ideal for applying the colors without distorting them. The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.
Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safe use), it is now also possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safe transportation).
