Outdoor Shoes
Sandals
Trekking sandals are ideal for a day hike in flat terrain on well-maintained trails. They are very well ventilated and dry quickly if they get wet. Some sandals have an excellent outsole and toe protection for even more stability.
Mid-high Hiking Boot
Especially for day hikes with light luggage, low shoes are a good alternative to hiking boots. Because the lighter the shoe, the less tired your feet will be at the end of the day. Mid-height hiking boots are well ventilated and have a sufficiently cushioned sole.
Outdoor Boots
Hiking boots are distinguished from low shoes primarily by their high shaft. This gives you a lot of stability for the ankle and heel. This makes hiking boots the optimal companion for hikes on all trails and even on pathless terrain. The relief that the foot muscles get from a high shaft and firm outer material should not be underestimated. When the foot muscles tire at the end of the day, this relief is all the more important. Mountain boots are often crampon resistant, alternatively crampons can be retrofitted.
Outdoor Shoe Materials
Many outdoor shoes are made of leather. A distinction is made between smooth, nubuck and suede leather. Even though leather shoes are comparatively heavy, they offer a variety of advantages. Leather is breathable and water-proof at the same time.
One material that makes outdoor shoes waterproof and windproof is GORE-TEX. An outdoor shoe with a GORE-TEX membrane is therefore ideal for regions where precipitation can be expected at any time.
Nylon is used in high-wear areas of the shoe, such as the ankle area. It is lighter than leather and is used both as an outer and an inner material.
Mesh is particularly light, breathable and flexible and is therefore used in less stressed areas of the outdoor shoe, such as the tongue. An outdoor shoe made of mesh is not waterproof and is especially suitable for hiking in warm regions.
The cuts, shapes and colours of outdoor shoes are versatile. At Berger Camping you will find leisure shoes as well as hiking boots and trekking shoes from well-known brands such as Lowa, Meindl, Jack Wolfskin and CMP. For a relaxing day at the seaside, you can choose between water shoes, sandals and Crocs.
